Welcome to English House, the place where English is spoken, the place where we communicate in English, in a fun and active way! We provide a secure environment in which you can relax and learn, experiment with, appreciate and simply enjoy the English language.

Välkommen till English House, där vi pratar engelska och där engelska är roligt och interaktivt! Vi vill att du ska känna dig trygg i att lära dig, experimentera med och uppskatta det engelska språket.

Coming  up:

Sventorp-Värsåsenheten: A chance to meet a group of “elevernas val” once a week over the term. Groundbreaking chance for the English House. I look forward to it.

Vasa:  European Day of Languages.
26 September is the European Day of Languages (http://edl.ecml.at/ ). For the second year in a row, Vasa is organising a day to recognise this event. Last year was a great success, with many interesting themes and guest speakers. I gave a talk on “Modern English”, but this year I think I will look more closely at the language of politeness.

 Darwin:

On 22 November  2009, it is 150 years since Charles Darwin published his “On the Origin of Species” (Om arternas uppkomst). I am fascinated by Darwin as a historical character and as a man of his time. English House, Balthazar and Naturskolan are cooperating to help schools with any Darwin connected themes or activities they may be planning. (Not many historical figures touch 4 school subjects: English, science, history and religion) I am attempting to bring to life the personality of this great and interesting man.  More detail on the link below.
